Volunteer at SBC's Christmas in the Park

This is an ALL-CHURCH event!

Day: December 5th
Time: 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Place: Jack Kuban Elementary School

HSM is volunteering to help with SBC's fourth annual Christmas in the Park as we celebrate Christ's birthy by sharing His love to families living in the inner-city. This “day of celebration” will be a day filled with games, crafts, food, Christmas gifts, music and entertainment. The families we will serve live in the Murphy School District (one of the poorest school districts in Phoenix) and are considered “working poor”. A day like this is an enormous blessing to the over 1500 men, women, and children who will attend.

Many volunteers are needed to live out their faith by helping to prepare and serve food, staff various game and craft booths, inflatable bouncers, rock wall, concessions, pass out gifts, etc. This is a great opportunity for us to serve together. If you are still contemplating going on a missions trip, it is important that you fill out an application. If you decide not to go, then you can back out later. Beautiful Redemption

Saturday, September 24th was Girl’s Day at SBC’s High School Ministry.  Girl’s day was based on a song, Beautiful Redemption by Joy Williams.  As the song says, we are all sinners in every way. The four mini-seminars that we attended on Saturday were based off of characters mentioned in the song; doubting Thomas, the perfumed sinner-Mary Magdalene, Judas-kissing on Jesus’ cheek eager to deceive, and the guilty thief.  We are all these at times, we deceive God, we sin, we doubt, and we feel guilt. Even the best of us fall down and have our hardest trials.  Though we may turn away from God, he is always there to redeem us in his name, and will always love us.  He will always forgive, even when we do not believe we can be forgiven.  And no matter how many times we mess up, or sin, God will forgive us every time as if it were the first time we had ever gone against him.
